Studies with Stearman: The Command to Love

The small epistles of John pack a powerful message. John tells us not to love the world or the things that are in the world. He speaks of the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. He speaks of avoiding shame at the coming of Jesus. And he speaks of the evil one, the Antichrist, and how we can overcome his daily assaults and temptations in our life. What commandments is John speaking of? The 10 Commandments? Or something else? We are in a battle for our minds, but how we respond to life's challenges speaks of the road we are on, seeking perfection through Christ. Darkness seems to be overtaking our world. How does one abide in the light and be an effective overcomer for Christ?
