Tribute To A ‘Hero’

Kabang, the dog who became a household name after she saved two girls from being struck by a motorcycle and injured herself in the process in 2011, died on May 17, 2021. Her death was announced by Dr. Anton Lim, the veterinarian who took her into his care after the dog's owner died in 2015. In one file photo, then 2-year-old Kabang, is carried by Lim during a press conference at the Animal House in Makati City after returning home to a hero's welcome from the University of California Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital in the US where she underwent surgery to reconstruct her face, which lost its snout and upper jaw. The Manila Times gathered several file photos as a tribute to the hero dog.
