Pune hospitals run short on oxygen as Covid-19 ravages the city

With the second wave of Covid-19 ravaging Maharashtra, the worst-hit state, Pune, is witnessing an overload on its health infrastructure. Pune has more than 1.20 lakh active cases with the city witnessing over 10,000 fresh infections every day. Hospitals in the city are facing shortage of oxygen and anti-viral drug Remdesivir. "Oxygen consumption is 9 tons per day now. In the first wave, it was 6 tons. There's shortage of supply. Remdesivir supply is also short for some days,” said Executive Director of Noble Hospital.
