Black Joy in Film and Black Cinema: This keynote will focus and touch upon the following:
• Black Love & Black Joy. • An opportunity to look at Black life through the lens of love and view our humanity. • The film is a love letter for the black community that we want everyone to read. • Creating our own positive, multi-layered images and narratives that are not centered around Black trauma. • Overcoming the social conditioning that says something bad will happen that prevents us from realizing our dreams. • The film is a way to rewrite our history in a way that’s not always rooted in struggle. It gives people a way of leaving cynicism at the door.
