Sucheta Kriplani (25 June 1908 (1 December 1974) born Sucheta Mazumdar, was an Indian freedom fighter and politician in Uttar Pradesh, India. She became the first woman to be elected Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.She was born in Ambala, Haryana to a Bengali family. Her father, S.N. Majumdar though a government doctor was a nationalist. Educated at Indraprastha College and St.Stephen's College, Delhi, she became a Professor of Constitutional History at Banaras Hindu University. In 1936, she married socialist, Acharya Kriplani and became involved with the Indian National Congress.
दुनिया के लोकतंत्र के इतिहास में इंदिरा गांधी पहला निर्वाचिच प्रधानमंत्री थीं. ये तो शायद सबको पता हो, लेकिन आपको ये भी पता होना चाहिए कि देश के किसी प्रदेश की पहली महिला मुखिया सुचेता कृपलानी थी. जी हां. सुचेता कृपलानी इंदिरा गांधी के प्रधानमंत्री बनने से तीन साल पहले यानी ही देश के सबसे बड़े राज्य उत्तर प्रदेश की मुख्यमंत्री बन गई थीं.
