Pune woman's eyes gouged out after she resists rape attempt

A 37-year-old woman's eyes were allegedly gouged out by a man after she resisted his rape attempt in Maharashtra's Pune. The incident took place on Wednesday at Nhavera village in Pune's Shirur tehsil.According to the victim's statement to the police, the woman had gone out to defecate in the open on Wednesday night when an unidentified man grabbed her from behind and started forcing himself on her. When the victim retaliated, the accused stabbed her in the eye with a sharp-edged weapon.
