The beautiful Jenny Hager (Hedy Lamarr) is a tenacious and scheming social climber who manipulates the men in her life to get just what she wants. This period melodrama is set in the port of Bangor, Maine during the early 1920's and charts the rise and eventual demise of an evil woman who marries for wealth but finds herself attracted to other men.
