Boardwalk Empire's (an HBO production) Gillian Darmody (played by Gretchen Mol) reads a poem out of an issue of "Golden Days for Boys and Girls" from the late 19th century children's story paper.
The innocence of the boys catching coins being thrown from above, juxtaposed with her character, is mind blowing. Her sultry voice... the temptress we find throughout life.
Her character, and voice, played against the words of the poem just say it all. We are to do right, but the mature "parent" figure (Gillian) has done so much wrong, yet she reads these purity words to us.
