Typhoon Maysak slams into S. Korea's mainland, moves north through country

One of the most powerful storms to hit the country in years, Typhoon Maysak, swept across South Korea's mainland on Wednesday night and this morning, hitting several cities on the way.
We go live to our Kim Do-yeon, who's standing by in Gangneung, Gangwon-do Province, one of the last cities to endure the eye of the typhoon.
Do-yeon, how is it looking there now, I hear the typhoon warning was lifted just a few minutes ago?
Mark, I'm at Gangneung Harbor on the east coast of the peninsula.
The eye passed right over the city a few hours ago... and the city is now seeing sunshine but you can still feel the force of the typhoon through the strong winds, which are causing enormous waves.
As of 11 AM, the Korea Meteorological Administration issued a large wave advisory to this city and others along the east coast.
In addition, as you have mentioned, the typhoon warning has been lifted as of 12 PM.
As for the typhoon's impact, the city saw nearly 350 millimeters of rain... causing floods in low lying areas.
However, thankfully, there have been no reports of major property damage or casualties despite this being one of the most powerful storms to hit the country in many years.
The eye of the typhoon now is over North Korea and is set to dissipate near Hamgyeongbuk-do Province later in the day.
