In today's lesson, we talk about positive and negative personality trait. We discuss some commonly misused terms and how you can talk about personality traits like a native Chinese speaker.
Key Vocabulary: 世故 (shìgù) - diplomatic; knowing how things actually work and how people actually function in the world; a sense of being wise to how things actually are, especially in terms of relationships. 人情世故 (rénqíng shìgù) - the ways of social relationships 有人缘 (yǒurényuán) - to be popular 直觉很强 (zhíjué hěn qiáng) - strong intuition 风趣、幽默、聪明机智 (fēngqù、 yōumò、 cōngming jīzhì) - charm; humour; smart and quick-wittied 心机很重、奸诈 (xīnjī hěn zhòng、 jiānzhà) - strong schemer; devious 贱 (jiàn) - lowly; son of a .... 自恋 (zìliàn) - narcissistic 长舌 (chángshé) - gossiper 呱噪 (guāzào) - chatterbox 诡计多端 (guǐjìduōduān) - full of craft and cunning 四海 (sìhǎi) - very sociable; to have friends from everywhere and all walk of life 四海之内皆兄弟 (sìhǎi zhīnèi jiē xiōngdì) - "We are all brothers within the four seas." 江湖味很重 (jiānghúwèi hěn zhòng) - a strong gansta vibe 风尘味很重 (fēngchénwèi hěn zhòng) - a strong "Madam" vibe; lady of the night vibe 古怪 (gǔguài) - eccentric/odd 有野心 (yǒu yěxīn) - ambitious (leaning more towards "wild" and out of the box thinking) 企图心很强 (qìtúxīn hěn qiáng) very ambitious 愤世嫉俗 (fènshìjísú) - to be cynical
