A venomous snake was successfully recovered by a rescue team after it became lost in a parked car.

The incident took place in the city of Pune, western India on May 19.

According to local reports, as a resident of Pune stepped into his car, he heard a hissing sound from under the vehicle. Fearing for his safety, he called snake rescuer Saidas Kusal, who arrived with his team.

Their search for the elusive snake took nearly 30 minutes before Kusal saw it hiding in the chassis.

By the time Kusal lifted the car with a jack to get a better view, the snake had gone missing again, and another thorough search revealed it had made its way to the engine under the hood.

Footage show Kusal then grabbed the tail of the snake and patiently reeled it out. He then placed it in a water-filled bucket and the dirt and grease before releasing the reptile back into the wild.

Kusal said: “Cars make an ideal refuge for snakes, especially during rain. Car owners should be on alert against these intruders.”
