Shopkeepers use quaint 'flying baskets' to serve customers on canal in Thailand

Street vendors along a canal in Thailand use 'flying baskets' to serve customers on the other side of the waterway.

Local shopkeepers have developed a unique system of pulleys and baskets that they use on the man-made canal in the capital Bangkok.

Footage shows how the customer yells out an order before the seller sends across the snacks in a bamboo basket. The buyer then puts in their money and sends the basket back to the vendor.

The quaint system allows residents to earn an income serving visitors passing by on the footpath of the Khlong Bang Mot.
