চূড়ান্ত হয়ে গেল আইপিএল শুরুর তারিখ - IPL 2020 Starting Final Date
  • 4 years ago
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has started planning for the Indian Premier League (IPL). Although a venue or venues have not yet been finalised, the BCCI has tentatively zeroed in on a window. Mirror has learnt that it will be between September-end and November-start, more specifically it could be from September 26 to November 8. These dates are subject to the expected postponement/cancellation of the Twenty20 World Cup in
Australia.

Considering that starting dates are in September, the restricted venues are expected to be in the south, because the monsoon will not be very severe during those dates in Bangalore and Chennai. The bandwagon could move to Mumbai for the second half of the league, if the Covid situation improves.
As this paper had previously reported, Mumbai was to be the BCCI's first choice given the infrastructure, four international stadiums, hotels in close proximity and connectivity. But the proliferating number of Covid cases is discouraging IPL managers. Should it be in Karnataka or Tamil Nadu (another state where Covid cases are many), the IPL could be staged at the TNPL and KPL venues. The logic here is that the size of the stadiums will not matter as there will be no crowds.
