Boom Boom Afridi enjoys massive popularity amongst his female fans across the globe. And on one occasion, it certainly got the better off him. Before leaving for a tournament in Singapore with the Pakistani team, Afridi – along with teammates Hasan Raza and Atiq-uz-Zaman – was caught in a Karachi hotel room with a group of young women. Even as the players claimed innocence and maintained that the ‘fans’ had come to take their autographs, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) dropped the trio from the squad for ICC Champions Trophy that was held later the same year.

साल 2000 में पाकिस्तान की टीम को सिंगापुर ट्राई सीरीज में जाना था. सिंगापुर रवाना होने से एक दिन पहले पाकिस्तान के तीन खिलाड़ी कराची के होटल में लड़कियों के साथ पकड़े गए थे. कराची के होटल के उस कमरे में शाहिद अफरीदी भी थे. सिंगापुर ट्राई सीरीज के बाद अफरीदी की पीसीबी के सामने पेशी हुई थी और उन्हें आईसीसी नॉकआउट ट्रॉफी से बाहर कर दिया गया था. इसके बाद अफरीदी ने कोलकाता के अखबार को इंटरव्यू देते हुए बताया था कि इस घटना की वजह से वो रोजाना अपने माता-पिता से फटकार सुन रहे हैं. इस घटना के कुछ समय बाद ही अफरीदी का अपनी ममेरी बहन नादिया से निकाह हो गया. अपने क्रिकेट करियर के शुरुआती दिनों में वो एक स्कैंडल में फंस गए थे जिसके बाद उनके घरवालों ने उनकी शादी करवा दी.
