Nearly 20 Percent of Wendy's Locations
Are Not Serving Beef, Analysis Says The study from financial firm Stephens analyzed
online menus at the chain's 5,500 U.S. locations. It found that 18 percent have
stopped serving hamburgers. The menu change is attributed
to U.S. food suppliers shutting
down plants over COVID-19. According to the United Food and Commercial
Workers International Union, nearly two dozen
plants have closed their doors as of April 28. Wendy's, via 'Restaurant Business' The report adds that Wendy's reliance on "fresh beef" makes it more susceptible
to the meat shortage. Some states have not been affected,
but in New York and Ohio, fresh meat is
not available in 30 percent of Wendy's. Stephens analyst James Rutherford says this is due to the
impact of plant closures in certain "geographical areas." Wendy's spokesperson, via CNN Business
