Which Condiments Should
Be Refrigerated? Here's a handy refresher on
condiments and refrigeration. Although ketchup is too acidic for bacteria
to grow, popular brands like Heinz aren't.
Always refrigerate it just to be safe. Refrigerating mustard can extend its shelf-life for up to a year. Mayonnaise contains eggs,
so it must be refrigerated
to prevent bacteria growth. Jams and jellies don't need
to be refrigerated if they'll
be used within a month. Butter can stay out of the fridge
if it's consumed within 10 days. Always refrigerate salad dressing
or it could turn rancid.
