Amazing natural phenomenon as methane is trapped in frozen Canadian lake

An amazing natural phenomenon was spotted by Ali Khan as methane was trapped in Abraham Lake after it froze over.

Khan filmed the scene on February 17 as thousands of bubbles can be seen in trapped inside the clear ice.

The large white bubbles are created when water-dwelling bacteria feed on decaying organic matter and expel methane gas. When the water freezes the bubbles are suspended in the ice.
