Excerpt from An Introduction to Agriculture The author's thought in preparing this book has been to provide an elementary text on agriculture suitable for use by children of the seventh and eighth grades, and by pupils of a corresponding advancement in ungraded schools. It is hoped, also, that the book will not be found unsuited to the needs of Reading Circles and of individual students. The author, of course, makes no claim to completeness, nor is the book offered as a guide to farming. The effort has been, however, to touch those matters which would be most useful to pupils in our rural schools, and especially to give the underlying theory for many farm processes and practices. It is believed that teachers and students will find the summaries and questions at the end of each chapter especially helpful in reviewing and making definite the information which the chapters contain.
