Chinese cyclist lucky to survive after rolling under truck - but his bike gets crumpled

A cyclist narrowly escaped death after being run over by a truck in northern China's Tianjin on December 19.

The CCTV video shows the cyclist being knocked over by a truck. The man, who was not wearing a helmet, hangs on desperately to the side of the truck before his hands give way and he rolls underneath it.

The oblivious truck driver continues on his way, leaving the bike a crumpled wreck under its heavy duty wheels.

But incredibly the man is able to sit up and suffered minor scratches.

Many are not so lucky. According to the World Health Organisation, road traffic injuries are the leading cause of death for persons aged between 15 and 44, with vulnerable road users (pedestrians, motorcyclists and cyclists) accounting for the majority of deaths.
