Kind-hearted passersby saved four people in a car from drowning in a river in eastern China.

The video filmed in the city of Huai'an on October 18, shows a car suddenly reversing into a river after the driver pressed the accelerator instead of the brake by mistake.

Then three adults with one carrying a child climbed onto the roof of their car as it slowly sunk into the river.

Around six nearby people jumped into the river to rescue the trapped adults and child immediately.

Finally, four people were all brought back to the shore and none of them was in a life-threatening condition.
