Cat filmed "protecting locals" by seeing off aggressive snake

A cat owner in Indonesia claims this clip shows his pet protecting him and local children from a snake.

According to the filmer, he started recording on Friday when he saw his cat in a standoff with an aggressive snake in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra.

The clip shows the cat hold its ground despite repeated strikes from the reptile.

Eventually, the feline drives the snake into a ditch at the side of the path.

According to the filmer, this cat, and others in the area, help keep him and schoolchildren safe from snake bites.
