Uber Is Testing a Dog
Inclusive Riding Option A report by ‘Fast Company’ recently
revealed the test-launch of Uber’s latest
service, UberPet, in the United States. Starting Oct. 16, UberPet will be available in
a select number of cities, such as Phoenix, Arizona,
Austin, Texas and Nashville, Tennessee. UberPet was previously available in other
countries, such as Brazil, Mexico and Singapore. UberPets will allow owners to
bring their “household pets” along
for an extra $2-$5 surcharge. Most of the surcharge will reportedly go to the driver
as an incentive for them to accept rides
including pets. Uber does not currently have
an official policy on riders bringing
their pets along on trips. Passengers are required to notify
drivers and request permission,
which can potentially result in
repeated ride cancelations. If the test-launch is successful, Uber reportedly
plans on rolling out UberPet nationwide.
