Thai rescuers free stray dog from bumper grille after car runs over it

A stray dog survived by hit by a car and needed rescuing after getting stuck in the bumper grille.

Motorist Kritsana Naononthong, 32, was driving home with his son when he hit the pooch in Chonburi, Thailand on September 30.

Kritsana ignored the sudden bump because he thought it was a rock or piece of wood that he been strewn across the surface.

But when the family arrived home and pulled onto the driveway, Kritsana heard a dog whimpering from under the vehicle.

He looked around and found the black mongrel dog stuck inside his car grille.

The father-of-one contacted the local rescue team who arrived with a mechanic to remove take apart the front of the car and free the dog.

Eventually, after a quarter-hour the frightened mutt was released and scampered away. Locals then helped to catch the dog so he could be checked over by vets.

The kind-hearted driver told the rescue team about the incident and vowed to adopt the dog, who was lucky to be alive after the collision.

Kritsana said: "I thought a rock had bounced into my grille but then I heard the sound of a dog when I arrived home.

"I realized that I hit him and worried about his injury but he was fine. I'm surprised he was not more seriously hurt. I will take him for a check-up at the hospital and I hope I can adopt him."
