Octopus bizarrely changes colour and texture while hunting in the Red Sea

An octopus in the Red Sea off the coast of Marsa Alam was filmed changing colour and texture while hunting for food on September 4.

Footage captured by a Czech holidaymaker shows the cephalopod's exterior change from rough to smooth as it bounces around the seabed hunting fish.

The filmer explained: "The octopus was filmed during my holiday in Egypt.

"Specifically, the resort Jaz Grand Marsa.

"I started to film shortly after the octopus leaves its shelter."
