This hapless calf needed rescuing after a coconut tree blew over and pinned him to the ground during a storm.

Locals who were living near the field heard cow whining in pain in Samut Songkram, Thailand on Tuesday (September 17) evening.

They found the young cow stuck in the mire trapped under the thick log.

Neighbours called the owner who was working in the nearby market to help her cow but the coconut tree was too heavy to lift so she called the emergency services.

Rescue teams came and started to cut the tree into smaller pieces then used the car to lift the on that still laid upon the unlucky animal.

Cow owner Orapin Janklom, 34, was relieved that her farm creature was rescued safely with the help from locals.

She said: "I usually leave them to eat grass here while I have to work as a butcher at the market. The recent rain must create mud in the area and the cow must stumble onto it and was trapped.

"Unfortunately, she was piled upon by the coconut which made it impossible to escape by herself."
