Challenges Along Colombia's Peace Process

FTS News Bits | Journalist Jim Hodgson has spent time in Colombia over the past three decades and is familiar with the struggle for peace, through his work at the United Church of Canada, which has worked with Colombian churches in their work for peace. Conflict and violence have plagued the country for decades, but in 2016, the government headed by former President Juan Manuel Santos and the FARC were able to reach a Peace Agreement. We speak to Jim for insight on the current situation as a group from the FARC, announced that they will be taking up arms because the Colombian government under the Duque administration has refused to implement the Peace Accords reached in Havana. The announcement was made in a video message at an undisclosed location, in which Senator Jesus Santrich reappared alongside Ivan Marquez.
