Queen to Suspend Parliament
at Boris Johnson's Request .
Hours after British Prime Minister Boris Johnson asked Queen Elizabeth II to suspend Parliament, she obliged.
Parliament will be suspended from the
second week of September until October 14,
reconvening just two weeks prior to the Brexit deadline.
Johnson says that the move
is necessary for him to develop
a plan for his new government.
We're not going to wait until October 31st before getting on with our plans to take this country forward. This is a new government with a very exciting agenda, U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson, via statement.
Critics say his request leaves
lawmakers hardly any time to
push back on a no-deal Brexit.
Parliament member Anna Soubry
and opposition lawmaker Yvette Cooper
both tweeted their stance on the matter
