We may rarely hear about women farmers in the stories of agrarian crisis or farmer suicides in India but the reality is women farmers are the back-bone of agriculture in India.
Infamous for droughts and farmer suicides, northern parts of Karnataka are one of the most difficult terrains to cultivate and survive on agriculture. For the women cultivators of the area, demonetisation has come as the final blow. Barren lands, Drought, farmer suicides & demonetisation has become a cocktail of crisis for women farmers in northern Karnataka.
