South Korean's credit card spending in Japan tumbled during mid-to-late July amid the escalating Japan boycott movement.
According to a report released on Thursday, Korean credit card spending in Japan amounted to roughly 82 million U.S. dollars last month, up 1-point-1 percent from the same month last year.
But there was a big drop in credit card spending in the second half of the month, falling 5-point-3 percent on-year in the fourth week, and plummeting 19-point-1 percent in the fifth week of July.
The report used data showing Korean credit card usage in Japan.
Industry watchers say the boycott of Japanese products and travel is the reason for the decline.
