Legendary Broadway Producer and Director Harold Prince Dead at 91. According to his publicist, Prince died while in the country of Iceland. Other legends on Broadway, including Andrew Lloyd Webber, have since paid tribute. Prince, who had won nearly two dozen Tony awards, started his career back in the 1950s. Throughout the decades, he went on to direct and produce dozens of acclaimed shows. They include 'Evita,' 'Damn Yankees,' 'Fiddler on the Roof,' 'Phantom of the Opera' and 'Cabaret.'. Prince was also awarded the National Medal of Arts in 2000 and is the subject of 'Mr. Prince,' a documentary released in 2009. The NYC native's last directing credit in theatre is the 2015 musical, 'Prince of Broadway.'. He is survived by his wife of over 56 years, Judith Chaplin, and two children.
