Colorectal Cancer on the Rise in Young Adults, Says Study The study, which utilized the National Cancer Database registry, was published in the journal "Cancer." It found that between 2004 and 2015, 130,165 adults under the age of 50 were diagnosed with the disease. The number accounts for 12% of all adults diagnosed with colorectal cancer during the time frame. 51.6% of those had advanced stages three or four of the disease.In 2018, the American
Cancer Society revised its screening guidelines to begin at age 45. The disease can often progress without symptoms. In order to decrease the risk of colorectal cancer, the Centers for Disease Control recommends a high fruit and vegetable, low animal fat diet.
