Impossible Foods to Introduce Fishless Fish The company behind the Impossible Burger is currently developing a seafood version of their meatless product. The product is being made in an effort to fight against the current depletion of ocean populations by the fishing industry. According to the World Economic Forum, 90% of the world’s marine fish stocks are depleted, primarily because of overfishing. Fishless fish will contain heme, a genetically modified yeast protein that they have used to replicate the texture, taste and smell of meat. Impossible Foods has already successfully created an anchovy-flavored broth, which can be used to create vegan caesar dressing and paella. Fishless fish is the company’s next step in their goal of developing plant-based alternatives for every animal-based food by 2035.
