President Donald Trump signed an executive order to impose fresh sanctions on Iran. Trump said the new sanctions will target Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his office. According to Reuters, the sanctions are in response to Tehran’s downing of a U.S. drone. Although Tehran said the drone was flying in its airspace, Washington denied those claims. Trump said the sanctions would have been imposed regardless of the drone incident.
