Secretary of State Pompeo Unveils 'Unalienable Rights' Panel Secretary of State Mike Pompeo unveiled the new Commission on Monday. Pompeo said the panel will provide him "an informed review of the role of human rights in American foreign policy.” Mike Pompeo, Sec. of State, via Politico The panel will consist of 10 members of varying religious backgrounds, led by Harvard law professor, Mary Ann Glendon. Glendon is a social conservative and outspoken anti-abortionist. At the State Department, Glendon said "basic human rights are misunderstood by many, manipulated by many, and ignored by the world’s worst human rights violators." Amnesty International criticized the panel, saying "it wants to undermine rights for individuals, as well as the responsibilities of governments."
