Nipsey Hussle Honored Posthumously at 2019 BET Awards The late rapper received the 2019 Humanitarian Award at the BET Awards on June 23. Hussle’s friend, famed rapper T.I., announced the award, calling Hussle “legendary” and a “revolutionary.” T.I., via ‘Complex’ Hussle was well-known for his work within low-income communities in California. He co-founded “Too Big To Fail” in 2018, which is an organization that creates STEM centers for local youth, as well as consistently advocated for low-income housing to be built in the Hyde Park neighborhood. T.I., via ‘Complex’ Hussle’s mother, Angelique Smith, and his long-time partner, Lauren London, accepted the award on his behalf.
