Big Winners at the 2019 BET Awards

Big Winners at
the 2019 BET Awards Hosted on June 23 in Los Angeles,
the BET Awards saw a number of
winners take the stage. Childish Gambino took home
the award for video of the year
for his song, “This Is America.” Beyoncé won best female R&B/pop artist
for the sixth year in a row, beating out
her younger sister, Solange. Cardi B walked away with the award for
best female hip-hop artist, as well as album
of the year for ‘Invasion of Privacy.’ Bruno Mars won best male R&B/pop artist for
the third year in a row, setting a record for
most consecutive wins in that category. Nipsey Hussle, who died March 31,
won best male hip-hop artist and was
awarded a special humanitarian award. Mary J. Blige was honored
with the lifetime achievement award. Regina King won best actress, beating
out Viola Davis, Issa Rae, Regina Hall,
Tiffany Haddish and Taraji P. Henson. Michael B. Jordan won the award for
best actor for ‘Creed II,’
marking his second win in the category. Serena Williams won sportswoman
of the year, making her the most
awarded in the category with 14 wins.
