Trump's Mexico Tariffs Could Raise Prices at Chipotle The U.S. president has threatened a 5% tariff on Mexico imports unless the country helps with the immigration crisis. Come October this year, the tariffs could be at 25%. This would hurt Chipotle, who uses many items from Mexico. Chipotle CFO Jack Hartung says that company costs would jump as much as $15 million in 2019. Hartung does add that the chain can pass this hurdle by raising prices on food items. Hartung goes on to say that Chipotle could start buying processed items like avocados. But in turn, he admits the quality of the food would take a downturn. Chipotle CFO Jack Hartung, via statement
