Jeff Bezos Unveils New ‘Blue Moon’ Lunar Lander In a press event in Washington DC on May 9, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos laid out the future plans of his space company, Blue Origins. He detailed his long-term vision of having communities on the moon, in order to support the expansion and preservation of human life. Jeff Bezos, via statement Bezos then went on to reveal the company's latest project, a four-legged lander designed to carry humans and cargo to the moon. ‘Blue Moon’ reportedly weighs 33,000 pounds, and is capable of transporting more than 14,000 pounds in flight. In addition, the lander will also be able to deploy moon-orbiting satellites while descending to the moon’s surface. Bezos did not reveal specific launch dates for ‘Blue Moon,’ but said its rocket motor would be tested for the first time this coming summer.
