ಧರ್ಮಸ್ಥಳದ ಧರ್ಮಾಧಿಕಾರಿ ರತ್ನವರ್ಮಾ ಹೆಗ್ಗಡೆ ಮತ್ತು ರತ್ನಮ್ಮ ಹೆಗ್ಗಡೆ ಅವರ ಜೇಷ್ಠ ಪುತ್ರನಾಗಿ ಜನಿಸಿದವರು ವೀರೇಂದ್ರ ಕುಮಾರ್. 24 ನವೆಂಬರ್ 1948ರಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದರು. ಆಗಷ್ಟೇ ಭಾರತಕ್ಕೆ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿತ್ತು. ಚಿಕ್ಕ ವ್ಸಯಸಿನಿಂದಲೂ ಅಪ್ಪನ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯ ಮಗನಾಗಿ ಬೆಳೆದ ವೀರೇಂದ್ರ ಕುಮಾರ್ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಕಲಾ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವ್ಯಾಸಂಗ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
