Expert says it could take 40 years to rebuild Notre Dame
  • 5 years ago
Reconstruction of Notre Dame could take up to 40 years according to experts in charge of restoration at other historic cathedrals.
They say a segment of the cathedral has been very weakened by the blaze and materials for the building such as about 3 thousand trees and tons of limestone, need to be found.
But France's president Emmanuel Macron is planning to rebuild the cathedral within five years.
Macron pledged to rebuild it "even more beautifully" in a nationwide address this week.
More than one billion U.S. dollars in donations have poured in for the restoration project.
