Pete Buttigieg Surging in Iowa and New Hampshire Presidential Polls The most recent polls show the South Bend, Indiana mayor in third place. Buttigieg trails frontrunner Joe Biden by double digits, but it is a great showing for the 37-year-old. In terms of fundraising, Buttigieg also came in fourth in the first quarter out of all Democratic candidates. Nearly half of Democratic voters in Iowa are opinionless about him right now. Nationally, he's also polling low but not as much as before. Buttigieg still has plenty of time to get his name out there as presidential debates haven't even started yet. Primary voting for the 2020 Democratic nomination is also over 9 months away.
