U.S. safety regulator opens investigation into Hyundai, Kia vehicle fires
  • 5 years ago
A U.S. government agency is opening new investigations into non-collision fires involving vehicles manufactured by Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors.
According to Reuters on Monday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the probes were prompted after receiving a petition from a group that fights for the rights of consumers.
The investigations will cover around three million vehicles...including the 2011 through 2014 Hyundai Sonata and Santa Fe, and the 2011 through 2014 Kia Optima and Sorento.
Since 2015, the South Korean automakers have recalled more than 2-point-3 million vehicles...related to various engine fire risks.
