U.S. safety regulator opens investigation into Hyundai, Kia vehicle fires
  • 5 years ago
The U.S. is opening a new probe into non-collision fires involving vehicles manufactured by Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors.
According to Reuters on Monday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the move was prompted after receiving a petition from a group that fights for consumers' rights.
The investigations will cover around three million Hyundai and Kia vehicles.
Since 2015, the South Korean automakers have recalled more than 2-point-3 million vehicles due to engine fire risks.
