and turns 72. He was born in Pinner, Middlesex, England. The singer released his debut album, Empty Sky, in 1969. He later released his sophomore album in 1970, which produced his hit single, “Your Song.” He has received Grammys, an Academy Award, a Tony and more. John is both a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee. He has also composed music for ‘The Lion King’ and ‘Aida.’ The singer was knighted by Elizabeth II in 1998 and became Sir Elton John. He founded the Elton John AIDS Foundation. John announced he was retiring
from touring and began his
three-year farewell tour in
