Mount Bromo in Indonesia's East Java erupted on Monday morning (March 18), emitting a huge ash column into the air.

Visitors were prohibited from being within a one-kilometer radius from the mountain's craters.

An alert from the Volcanic Ash Advisory Center warned of a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 12,000ft (3,700m).
