President Moon Jae-in says South Korea's role has become a lot more important,... in the aftermath of the Hanoi summit.
Speaking to members of the National Security Council,... the first one chaired by the president himself in 9 months,... Moon asked council members for their assistance in maintaining high-level dialogue between Pyeongyang and Washington.

"I ask you to identify the differences in the North Korean and U.S. positions and come up with ways to narrow that gap. As much as I believe that both sides will ultimately come to a settlement,... I want you all to work in preventing a prolonged impasse in talks between the two sides.
Adding that he is confident... Kim Jong-un and Donald Trump will reach a nuclear agreement,... Moon said it's now up to his government to help "bridge the gap" between the two sides.
President Moon also said the dismantling of the regime's Yeongbyeon nuclear facility... will mark an irreversible step towards denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
