Sachin Tendulkar to get Order of Australia today - NewsX

Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar will receive the Order of Australia from Australian Minister Simon Crean in Mumbai today. The honour will be conferred at a special ceremony at the Taj Lands End Hotel at 5 pm. Australian Prime Minister Julian Gillard announced the award for Tendulkar during her visit in October. Gillard called her decision to give the honour to Tendulkar as special and something rarely conferred to non-Australians. Gillard said it is a fitting recognition for such a great batsman. Tendulkar is of course the leading run-scorer and century maker in both Test and one-day international cricket.
