India News: "We have strict rules regarding regulating junk food within the school premises. However, outside the campus, this menace is beyond control. We have been trying to get rid of ice cream vendors in the past and now there is a vendor selling unhygienic eatables right across the road," says Kavita Das, principal of St John's High School.
Many leading schools are finding it tough to restrict junk food outside the premises. "For schools that are in residential areas or closer to markets, it is nearly impossible for the authorities to check sale of junk food outside the campus. It is the responsibility of the UT administration," says HS Mamik, president of the Independent Schools' Association.
