Land Acquisition Bill: The govt is also given a virtually free hand to acquire land for its own use. Most controversially, the Bill still gives the govt the power to acquire land on behalf of private companies a contentious provision that has been severely misused in the past by vested interests to perpetrate huge land grabs.
