Will Smith Is Not Returning for 'Suicide Squad' Sequel Actor Will Smith has reportedly dropped out of the ‘Suicide Squad’ sequel, slated for release on August 6, 2021. He ultimately couldn’t commit to the film because of scheduling issues. Smith wasn’t officially signed for the sequel, but the studio had hoped for his return alongside other big name stars like Margot Robbie. It’s unconfirmed whether Robbie will continue her iconic role as Harley Quinn, or Viola Davis as Amanda Walker. The ‘Suicide Squad’ sequel will feature an almost entirely new cast, as new director James Gunn relaunches the franchise. ‘Suicide Squad’ was released in 2016 and made $745 million globally. More information about the sequel is predicted to drop soon, as production is scheduled to start in September 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia.
